"God used Paul Borden and his associates in a powerful way. In spring 2000 Central Presbyterian Church brought in Dr. Borden as a church consultant. Paul had assisted the church some years earlier. It is significant that the Session leaders initiated this consultation at a time when they had no installed pastor. Paul surveyed the congregation and interviewed leaders across a period of days. The report he later presented to the church leadership enumerated a number of strengths, as well as the reasons he ascertained were behind the start of a church decline. He then provided twelve recommendations to address critical needs, ministry opportunities, and structural changes that needed to be made.

In the years that followed, Central Presbyterian leaders gave serious attention to these recommendations. Within two years the church had 180 more people attending each week (growing to an attendance nearing 700 people per week). More importantly, the entire church was moved towards a more missional stance, being ready to engage the challenges and needs of the community surrounding us. All of this happened in a 3-year period when the church was seeking a new Senior Pastor! We give thanks first to the grace of God, and certainly for the quality of our church leadership. And, we're inviting them (Paul and his associates) to help us again, for the third time!"
